Our Story

The Tayiana Foundation was born from a simple belief: every child deserves dignity, safety and the chance to dream without fear. For our founder, Jay Tayiana, this belief was shaped long before The Foundation had a name, long before the website, the events, or the growing community of supporters who now stand behind it. Growing up in Kajiado, Jay saw firsthand the realities faced by vulnerable children and young girls, especially those in rural and marginalized communities. She witnessed the quiet struggles that often went unnoticed: girls missing school because they didn't have sanitary pads, children going hungry because there was no one to advocate for them, young girls forced into early marriages, and others living under the threat of cultural practices that robbed them of childhood and opportunity.

When she moved to Australia for further studies, she carried these stories with her, not as memories, but as motivation. The distance only sharpened her desire to do more. What began as small acts of support, raising awareness among friends, and helping individual girls in need, slowly grew into a vision much larger than herself.

2020

In 2020, with courage, faith, and a heart anchored in service, The Tayiana Foundation was officially born. What started as a student-led initiative has become a steadily growing movement committed to protecting and empowering Kenya's most vulnerable children and girls. From the start, the mission has been clear: to provide basic needs, create safe spaces, rescue girls from early marriages and harmful cultural practices, and restore hope where it has been lost.

One of the Foundation's most defining moments was the outreach at Grace NaNaNa Children's Home in Kajiado, where dozens of girls were supported through donations, empowerment programs, meals, and a day filled with laughter and connection. It was a reminder that small acts of kindness can ripple far beyond what we can see and that community is powerful.

Since then, the Foundation has continued to grow, partnering with local champions and organizations that believe in the same dream: a world where girls are protected, educated, and free.

Today, The Tayiana Foundation focuses on menstrual health outreach, education, community drives, child protection initiatives, and empowerment programs for girls at risk. From distributing sanitary pads to advocating against FGM and early marriages, every initiative is rooted in love, respect, and the unwavering belief that change begins one child at a time.

This is not just our story, it is the story of every girl who dares to hope, every child who deserves a future, and every supporter who stands with us in compassion.

And as we continue to grow, building our identity, expanding our reach, and strengthening our impact, we invite you to walk this journey with us. Because together, we can rewrite stories. We can restore dignity. And we can light the path for generations to come.
